In language arts class, students have been studying differing points of view in both fiction and nonfiction texts related to the Holocaust. On February 1st, we were very fortunate to have a Holocaust survivor, Estelle Nadel, presenting at Drake. She shared her experience of hiding in an attic for over two years and escaping the Gestapo during the Holocaust when she was a child. Afterward, she answered student questions about her experience. Estelle's presentation was deeply moving and left a strong impact on students. Estelle kindly donated her time to speak to our students. To show our gratitude and appreciation for her time and story, Drake students raised over $800 to donate to The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in her name.
