Bonnie Legg has a background in various counseling roles, including working with children in residential treatment and as a school-based therapist. Bonnie is looking forward to continuing to work with Drake’s mental health team to help students learn about mental health, reduce barriers to learning, and reach their goals.

Bonnie grew up in Lakewood and is a graduate of Jeffco Schools. Bonnie earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Welfare from Adams State University. She then earned her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Denver. 

Bonnie currently lives in Golden and spends her free time playing soccer, riding horses, traveling, and enjoying nature.

Ms. Ewald
Rebecca Ewald has been a school counselor for four years, starting her fourth year here at Drake Middle School. Before becoming a school counselor, she was an athletic coach, college level counselor, substitute teacher and therapeutic support staff worker.
 
Rebecca is originally from the east coast and moved out to Colorado in 2020. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University. After taking two years to work one-on-one with students in the school setting and coach, Rebecca earned her Master's degree from Kutztown University in school counseling. She looks forward to this year at Drake and getting to work with all the amazing Drake students and families!

Rebecca spends her free time snowboarding, reading, running, and most importantly, hanging out with her dog, Ginger.

Mandy Hodson has been a school counselor since 2008 and has a background in both high school and middle school counseling, as well as teaching English Language Arts. She is thrilled to be working with students at Drake Middle School. Mandy will be helping students achieve their academic and personal goals, as well as start working with students early on for career and college plans.

Mandy is originally from the East Coast and earned a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Frostburg State University in Western Maryland. After several years of teaching, Mandy decided to continue working with students in an educational setting but different capacity and pursue a master’s degree in School Counseling.

Mandy lives in Arvada with her husband, Kevin, and 3 kids: Grace, Maggie and Charlie. For fun, Mandy and her family enjoy spending time outside in the beautiful Colorado mountains!

Brenna Stubenbort

 Brenna is a Licensed Social Worker, originally from the east coast and relocated to Colorado in July, 2021. Brenna earned her bachelor's degree in Social Work, with an emphasis in psychology and child welfare, from the University of Pittsburgh. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Brenna worked as a caseworker in the Child Welfare System where she offered support to children and families by connecting families to community resources. She then earned her master's degree in Social Work, with a concentration in children and youth, from the University of Denver. Brenna will primarily be working with Special Education students and is looking forward to getting to know the students and families here at Drake!

Brenna spends her free time hiking, skiing, camping, roller skating, and going to many concerts. Most importantly, Brenna loves spending time with friends, family, and pets!

Chloe Social Worker

Chloe Castro is starting her 4th year as an employee at Jeffco as a school social worker. She has been a part of the Jeffco community in some way her entire life. She is a proud graduate of Jeffco! After graduating from Jeffco Virtual Academy (go otters!) in 2016, she completed a bachelor's degree in social work from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver! While receiving her masters degree, she specialized in children and youth and received a certificate in both school social work and animal assisted therapy. 

In Chloe's free time she enjoys spending time with her human son Aidan, husband Orion, and cat son Marcel. She enjoys running, skiing, cycling, writing, taking care of my 2 aquariums, and painting. She looks forward to being a part of Drake Community! Go Dragons!!! 


Our Mission

Together, we serve as advocates for supporting all students as unique individuals, preparing them for a successful transition to high school and in becoming self-directed contributors of society.

Counselors at Drake help students across social/emotional, academic, and career domains. Students can request an appointment with us by filling out a counselor request form in front of the grade-level counselor's office. Parents, please note that e-mail is the preferred method of communication!
