Library & Research
Welcome to Drake Middle School Library where students learn, read, and grow. We are a Colorado certified Highly Effective School Library where learning is often collaborative, integrating technology and research skills within core subjects.
Literacy
We support the love of reading with a rich and diverse library. Students may access our catalog at any time to explore both nonfiction and fiction.
Throughout the school year, we focus on literacy through programs like Battle of the Books and bi-monthly JCPL Book Talks. Here is the link to Jefferson County Public Library.
Technology
Students showcase their learning through a variety of technology tools that increase rigor and reinforce digital literacy. Some popular, district supported tools that we use are: Adobe Express, Soundtrap, WeVideo, Book Creator, EdPuzzle, Señor Wooly, and Actively Learn. Research
Determining trustworthy resources is a top priority at Drake. Sixth grade students practice identifying reliable resources through collaborative lessons in the library before embarking on their projects. As seventh graders, students participate in another lesson to build on that knowledge and are required to create formal bibliographies. As eighth graders, they continue to use solid research practices to prepare them for high school and beyond.
