Meet the Principal
Jill Kline
Dear Drake Students and Families-
Welcome to the new school year! I am Jill Kline, and I am excited to be your Principal!
Since graduating from the University of New Mexico in 1997, I have worked with children and families in many different capacities. My teaching career began in 2000 in Mesa county. As a social studies teacher, I honed my skills as an educator and developed a passion for teaching students who struggled. This quickly transitioned into a special education position where I served students with emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties. I also had the opportunity to work with students who qualified as twice exceptional and gifted. From 2008 until 2018, I taught special education at Ralston Valley High School. Growth and change is part of being an educator. In 2018, I became the Dean of Students before transitioning into an Assistant Principal position in 2020. My husband, John, and I have been part of the Arvada Community for several years. Our children (Riley-17, Karsyn- 15 and Carter-11), have attended West Woods, Drake and Ralston Valley.
This year, my focus will be on getting to know Drake, not only from the perspective of a parent, but as the leader. I will meet with teacher, parent and student groups to continue to determine best ways to meet the learning needs of students, maintain and support active communication with the Drake community, and provide opportunities for students to thrive. I believe that all students should have access to a world class education. Our focus at Drake will continue to hone instructional excellence where meaningful learning opportunities work to create a school where students are supported in achieving academic excellence and exploring fun and diverse opportunities while also prioritizing safety and belonging.
Please know that my door is always open and I welcome your input and support.
Mrs. Kline
